You think I’m kidding and I’ve just enticed you to read further. Well okay, that is true but I have a point. I’ve just been stood up for a breakfast date with a friend. I got up early, took my shower, got ready and called her at the agreed upon time. It goes to voicemail. I called back fifteen minutes later and again the same response. I’m sitting here starving and mildly annoyed. Actually she called weeks later and left a voice mail.
This happens to me on a semi-regular basis. I make a commitment and so does the other person. I hold up my end of the bargain and they don’t. What’s with that? You’d think that by this time in my life, I would have gotten used to it but alas, no.
I have lots of other things to do like writing to you, cleaning the house, going shopping and catching up with my other friends but still…
So getting back to my first statement, I’m tired of being the reliable one. Yes you can count on me to be there in a flash when needed, but it gets tiresome to be taken for granted which is a topic of another blog soon to be written.
My solution to my situation is I’m planning to be reincarnated as a “flake”. I’m not sure in what form I’m coming back, even if I’m coming back but if I do, it’s as a flake. To elaborate on my definition of a “flake”, someone who does what they want, not thinking too much about others, shows up when they want with nothing in their hands and no one seems to mind. They just accept that the “flake” is incapable of more sociably acceptable behaviour. These people can be quite charming and fun to be around. Not sure I could handle the pressure.
Okay, I’d like to try being a “flake” on a trial basis.

I think you’re better off being the responsible person you are. Flakes are not very likable!
I understand completely! I’ve encountered this so much I now tend to have a ‘back up plan’ just in case!
