Becoming a Grandmother – the Sequel

in My Life, Uncategorized

When I last left you we were waiting to see if Amy would go into labour.

Indeed she did on that very day, Easter which is my Mother’s and my BFF Freyja’s Birthday.

She had asked me my opinion on whether she should go to her Mother’s for Easter dinner and I said absolutely, just bring your hospital bags just in case.

Late in the afternoon she called to say she was having contractions and by 17:30 it was time to leave for the hospital.

Raina was born, 7 lbs 10 ozs at 21:40 on April 12 after a short but intense natural childbirth.  My husband Marc has already nicknamed her Bunny.

Amy and Daniel are doing a great job.  Second time around is a much more relaxed experience and she is being a very good baby.   My Grandson is adapting to the new dynamics and at this point doesn’t want to send her back but I think he is leaving his options open.

It is so exciting to have a little Granddaughter.  She is so delicate and her hands are so graceful for such a little person.  I guess you are starting to understand that I think she is exceptionally special.  I actually dislike parents and grandparents that gush about every little thing their kids do and I promise not to do that but I think you need to give me a little of leeway here.

So now I have one more person to worry about because it’s important to understand, it is all about me.  But if you didn’t have loved ones to worry about, you’d be alone.  I don’t think I like that alternative at all!

I would like to thank everyone who wished us well and that I’m am hugely grateful and relieved that she, Amy and Daniel are well and off to a great start.

Here are a few pictures of the little one.
