When I was a little girl, my sister and I had magical Christmas’s. There were just my parents, my sister, and myself - it was us against the world. As I started my family, I tried very hard to create the same magic and I think I was successful for the most part. We didn’t have a lot of money but they always got special gifts and because they were not greedy, they were happy with their presents. It’s not always good to get everything you want.
As time went on and life happens to you, some Christmas’s are difficult. Loved ones get sick, people get divorced and situations arise that interfere with happy holidays.
Most people do not have either perfect families or perfect lives. No one gets it all, all the time.
So what I want to share with you whether you’re mending a broken heart or are not where you want to be this Christmas, my Mother-in-law Ethel once said to me, it’s just a day. It’s so true.
Although I enjoy Christmas because most of my Christmas’s have been joyful, I recognize for many people they are painful. The media and retail companies blow it up totally out of proportion so if you are in one of those Sears commercials where everybody’s hugging after they receive the perfect present, you’re a loser. You are not a loser. You’re not a Christmas card. That’s all.
For those of you who get to be with your families and you’re happy about it, count your blessings. For the rest of you, take heart, it will be over soon and maybe next year it will be your turn.
Thanks to everyone for your support and comments. I sincerely appreciate the feedback and encouragement as I build my readership.
May the gift of love and peace be with you for Christmas and throughout the year.
Kay

Kay, your blog about X-Mas being just a day was wonderful and a real inspiration for people going through tough times. Thanks for all you support, love, and encouragement, and for “getting it”. You’re a kindred spirit xoxoxo
